Replaces Shell Standard gasoline and diesel with new fuel-saving formulation
Shell introduces a breakthrough in fuel technology with the launch of Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Shell FuelSave Diesel to an energetic crowd last August 3 at the Ayala Center, Cebu. Specially formulated to help motorists save fuel, Shell FuelSave Unleaded comes as the replacement to Shell’s Super Unleaded, while Shell FuelSave Diesel takes over Shell Diesoline Ultra.
“Since its launch in Luzon last year, the Shell FuelSave line has been met with huge success by motorists there – helping gain us strong preference among motorists looking for fuel economy,” said Arlene P. Manalo, Pilipinas Shell Retail Marketing Manager.
The innovation behind the new fuels lies in the Shell Efficiency Improver. Shell FuelSave Unleaded contains an instantaneous fuel economy formula that is designed to improve fuel efficiency from the very first tank full. The formula helps to reduce energy losses by providing lubrication where engine oils are less effective, such as the upper piston ring. It is also designed to keep inlet valves clean, prevent deposits from forming, and help improve engine efficiency. Shell FuelSave Diesel’s formula, on the other hand, is designed to ignite and burn more effectively than Standard Diesel, helping to produce more efficient combustion in engines. It is also designed to help protect against the build-up of deposits that can reduce engine efficiency.
Shell recently sponsored a survey called the Shell FuelSave Index which showed that eighty-seven percent of Filipinos are willing to change their driving habits in order to save fuel while eighty-five percent have actually changed the way they drive to reduce their fuel consumption. According to Manalo, “In a time when people have become more conscious of fuel costs and energy conservation, petroleum companies are increasingly being challenged to adapt and respond to the various needs of motorists. Shell FuelSave is one way Shell helps the Philippine motorists get more out of their fuel.”
As part of its efforts to help cost-conscious motorists improve their fuel economy, Shell launched Target One Million, a campaign which aims to help one million motorists across the world learn how to save fuel. “In tandem with the introduction of Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Shell FuelSave Diesel, we have developed a series of interactive, online mini-games for people to complete at www.shell.com.ph/targetonemillion. The mini-games have been designed to show motorists how the right choice of fuel and a few simple changes to their driving habits can help them save fuel, and in doing so, reduce their fuel costs,” Manalo explained, in accordance with Shell’s commitment to teaching 100,000 Filipinos practical driving tips that can help save fuel.
Target One Million represents the latest step in Shell’s ongoing efforts to provide smarter, more efficient products like Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Shell FuelSave Diesel, and promote smarter energy use amongst the world’s motorists. Previous initiatives to educate customers on saving fuel include crowning Europe and Asia’s Smartest FuelSavers in 2010 and setting a Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Fuel Efficiency Lesson’ on Global Shell FuelSave Day in October 2011.
“All fuels are not the same. Your fuel economy can be improved through a combination of good driving habits and using the right fuel. When combined with the Shell FuelSave Tips, Shell fuels with Fuel Economy Formula (such as Shell FuelSave) can help you reduce your consumption and fuel costs by helping you get more out of every tank,” Manalo concluded.
